This Privacy Policy describes how Kipi ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our mobile application ("App").
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account using Google or Apple sign-in, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Authentication tokens
User Content
When you use the App, you may create:
- Diary entries (text)
- Photos and videos (stored on AWS S3)
- Comments on diary entries
- Emotion stickers and reactions
Device and Usage Data
We automatically collect:
- IP address
- User agent
- Device type and model
- Timezone
- Operating system version
- App usage events and session data (via PostHog)
Advertising Data
If you interact with ads in the App:
- Google AdMob collects advertising identifiers
- On iOS, we request your permission via App Tracking Transparency (ATT) before collecting tracking data
Purchase Data
If you make in-app purchases:
- RevenueCat processes and stores transaction data for stickers, themes, and coins
- We do not directly store payment card information
Push Notification Tokens
If you enable push notifications, we collect your device push token via Expo push notification services.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App
- Authenticate your identity and secure your account
- Store and display your diary entries, photos, and videos
- Send push notifications you have opted into
- Display relevant advertisements
- Process in-app purchases
- Analyze app usage to improve performance and user experience
- Respond to your support requests
3. Third-Party Services
We share information with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers managed by our third-party infrastructure providers (AWS, Vercel). We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls.
While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data through the App
- Export your diary entries and content
- Delete your account and associated data
Account Deletion
When you request account deletion, your account enters a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel the deletion. After 30 days, your account and all associated data (diary entries, photos, videos, comments) are permanently deleted.
To request deletion, use the account settings within the App.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion (following the 30-day grace period), we permanently delete your data from our systems and request deletion from third-party services where applicable.
Anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or by other means. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
